M-Ti Plug-In Protectors

complementary second stage devices,
internal to the house or business, for:
~ surge remnants getting past first stage
          service entrance protection,
     ~ or, internally generated surges/spikes

Meter-Treater plug-in second stage surge protectors, both ac and dc for handling surge remnants getting past primary first stage surge arresters.

Second stage surge protectorsPlug-in surge protectors, both ac and dc, ideally act as second stage devices, complementary to the first stage service entrance protector(s). This strategy is also called zoned surge protection.

Many of us use computers, digital telephones, facsimile machines, LAN networks, or home theater equipment. These pieces of equipment all contain sensitive microchips or circuits that are easily damaged by surges. Many of these surges are actually created within a home or facility. Additional avenues of entry exist including through phone, cable, security and external lighting lines.

Because a meter-based or service entrance surge protection device cannot furnish total protection to safeguard sensitive electronics from internally generated surges, or the incredibly fast leading edge of a lightning impulse, additional levels of protection, such as high quality secondary protectors, should be placed on all equipment and systems that are deemed valuable. Between both stages of protection, a survivable situation is created to handle the majority of surge situations.

M-Ti's plug-in surge protectors include:

  • The MT7-Plus, is a multi-purpose indoor surge protection device for PC's, LAN's, POS systems, home theaters, and other sensitive electronic equipment.
  • The Pro-Treater Coax Jr. with cable is a unique addition to the Pro-Treater line of surge protectors. The Coax Jr. is a single outlet plug-in device designed especially for cable T.V. or satellite.
  • The Pro-Treater Faxcessory is a compact, single outlet, plug-in device designed to guard your faxes, telephones and modems from harmful surges.
  • The Pro-Treater AC Jr., a single outlet plug-in device, or,
  • Thee Pro-Treater AC 3, a three outlet plug-in device can be used throughout the household or   business in any standard wall socket.

Meter-Treater, Inc. Provides Three Series of Plug-In Protectors:

  1. Multi-TreaterTM Series - 7 ac outlet units with modular bays: for Optional Telephone/Modem; Coaxial/Cable TV; and LAN (Local Area Network) Protection Modules.
  2. Pro-TreaterTM Series - 1 or 3 ac outlet wall mount units: Some of Which Include Built-in Telephone Line or Coaxial/Cable TV Protection.
  3. DLT, SLT, TLT, CLT and custom series: For commercial, dedicated, RJ-11 telecom jack panels, or hardwired DC signal wire applications.

These second stage protectors act as the final defense, to catch the very fast leading edge of an impulse that would get past the primary first stage service entrance arrester. The Two Stage Strategy makes it easy for the plug-ins, as they have less remaining energy to deal with. This also significantly increases the life expectancy of the internal protectors.

SLT Series with swivel.jpg (97199 bytes)

SLT (Signal Line Treater) Series:  The SLT Series is a multistage hybrid protector specifically designed for low voltage and low to medium frequency applications up to and including category 4 wiring.  Models are available for all EIA protocols, 4 - 20mA current loop and standard signal applications from 5Vdc to 200Vdc. Connector interface choices are modular jack, DB9, 15 & 25 and 3 position terminal block.
TLT (Telephone Line Treater) Series: The TLT Series provides secondary transient voltage surge suppression for (per UL 497A) Telco line protocols. Units provide protection against transients that exceed the nominal operating voltage of Dial-Up, DDS, Dedicated/Leased and T1 lines.

Telco Slider Mod.jpg (123093 bytes)

TLT-SEEX (Telephone Line Treater) Series: The TLT SEEX Series provides secondary transient voltage surge suppression for (per UL 497A) Telco line protocols. Units provide protection against transients that exceed the nominal operating voltage of Dial-Up, DDS, Dedicated/Leased and T1 lines. The TLT SEEX is designed for external mounting just after the incoming telephone junction box, in a weather-proof enclosure. The SEEX includes user selectable switches to bypass the protection circuit if destroyed. In most cases of a major surge, the protector will have given up its life while leaving the phone circuit operable... and it is usually desirous to be able to put the phone circuit back into service and call out to have another protection board ordered and get back on line.
CLT-SEEX (Satellite - Cable - CATV) Series: (pdf coming soon):
The CLT SEEX Series provides secondary transient voltage surge suppression for satellite, cable and CATV line protocols. Units provide protection against transients that exceed the nominal operating voltage of standard CATV lines. The CLT SEEX is designed for external mounting just after the incoming CATV junction box, in a weather-proof enclosure.
